When an interviewer gives you their business card, is it just strictly business and a recruiting type deal, or is it to imply that you should contact them again?

Whatever was his intention of giving you his card, you should contact him nonetheless to know whether you got the job or not.
Both, you should contact them to follow up anyway. Them giving you the card give you no excuse not to.
a recruting type deal
My husband always sends them a thank you…for taking the time to interview with him. It really helps..
It is just proper to follow up after an interview. Most employers are looking for an employee that takes initiative.
Handing out the business card is pretty a reflex in many cases, however after an interview you should use it to make future contact.
It is very important to get an interviewer’s business card. There is very important information on it. For instance, their e-mail is on it. You should send a thank you letter to them immediately following the interview. Secondly, their phone number is listed on it as well. You should send a follow-up call after about a week if you haven’t heard anything about the position.
Its for informational purposes. The card is for two reason, for you to write them a nice thank you letter, and if you dont hear from them you can feel free to call them to ask them the status of your interview.
