Can someone become a video game designer if they only went to a vocational school?

I just want to know if I would be able to get that kind of job if I only went to a vocational school for video game design.
I would also try to get a beta testing job before I try and become a video game designer. Does that count as experience? Also, how hard is it to get a beta testing job?
If you saying if you could go straight from the school to apply at a place then get hired? No, probably not as most of them require experience. But its worth a shot anyways, so, good luck!
