I have tried over and over to get information from recruiters but no one is returning my calls or emails which leaves me questioning the process in general. So I have some questions that I would really appreciate any help with.
Thank you!
My Background: I have a Masters in Digital Art from the Maryland Institute College of Art. I have worked at both graphic design firms and for the past two years I have been teaching graphic design, computer software, and photography for a local Washington DC college. I am returning this fall to graduate school to obtain a second Masters in Computer Art where I will learn web design, software, and computer programing.

Questions regarding the Reserve and DCO:

1) If I applied for the DCO program and was accepted, is there a guarantee that I will work in that field after completion of DCO or is it strictly based on what the Navy currently needs?
2) If I join the reserve while in school, do the reserves qualify for tuition coverage or is that for strictly active duty?
3) I have absolutely no reservations about performing my duties if activated, but I feel obligated to myself to complete graduate school in the two years required. Will there be a good chance that an officer in the reserve public affairs field will be deployed? If so, I would just wait until after I graduate to apply for the reserves.
4) Can an Officer switch from Navy Reserve to Navy? If so does the officer lose his/her rate?
5) Does your required active time extend every time you move up in rank?
6) I know a reservist is required to work at post for one weekend a month and two weeks a summer. I am getting married next year and the date is already set. If it turns out I was called to post that same weekend, could I request it to be switched to another date?
7) Does the reserve have a buddy program?

I watched an episode of Desperate Housewives recently where Lynette’s coworkers were judging her attire because it was out of season, and so she ends up spending money on more expensive suits. So it got me to asking: if you’re working for a large company or a corporation, are you expected to wear expensive/designer clothes? I can understand if you’re working for, say, Gap. Of course they would want you to be wearing their clothes, but I’m referring more to a company/corp that has nothing to do with fashion, such as a law firm, graphic/web design company, or a Wall Street investment bank.

Also, I’m not just talking about those in the higher up positions, but also poeple in positions such as secretaries, etc.

My company is an architectural and engineering firm that needs renders done on projects form time to time. A new graphic artist I met makes great looking renders for me, but question his billing to some degree. He charges a rate of 65$ per hour (seems decent to me), but he charges that for when his computer is rendering a model (could take 20+ minutes to render a view) in addition to the actually modeling/ texturing in what ever software he uses. It seems kinda odd that I am paying 65$ a hour for strictly computing power during. Is this industry standard?

this time around i want a much more serious name to suit the feel of the company unlike any of the other silly names i’ve previously used (ie: thunderpunch!, zacky b designs, and steez’d) i want a more serious, simple, and modern name

i’ve already brainstomred the following,
elktrk
advent design
and vizion

all of which are taken by numerous people
i don’t care if the name is taken already just as long as it’s not the name of 100 other design companies or is trademarked by some bigtime design firm.

any ideas?
