Hello.
Back in 2002 I have graduated as multimedia arts producer, but then lost my interest in graphic design and have been working as an admin etc.

At some point in my life I got a job at very big and COOL (facebook = sh*t) web 2.0 company as a community manager. Later our team was made redundant and I find it unbelievably hard to work as an Admin at a standard company.

I always wanted to study Java because I like programming in simpler languages such as applescript etc.
Friend of mine (who is a programmer) told me that I am not going to be accepted in java programming team because I am not a geek – and they will think that I am there for money. Is it really THAT black and white?

It upsets me – I want to work with cool people once again.

Here is a list of my interests, please tell me which once are not appropriate:

1) Dropping hints (dual speach)
2) Fashion
3) Design/photography/animation etc. (at the moment do not have cool portfolio = lame)
4) Japanese anime manga etc.
5) Bradbury books and other sci-fi
6) diets
7) do not mind “class A”s time to time

At the moment dislike the following:
1) Simpsons, South Park and almost everything that is produced for masses.
2) Beer
3) weed
4) rude people (f words, racists; I’m not a gay, but do not like if someone hates gays)
5) politics (especially – I’m natively Russian and hate “what do you think about Putin?”)
6) cheap clothes

Please tell me if there is anything that can be considered inappropriate among programmers and what is a MUST interest/hobby.

Using information you and possibly others can amend personality.
Is it necessary to follow common dress code?
Thanks!

My questions are:

-And what is better, a 32bit laptop with memory that max’s out at 4gb but has 2.3 ghz processor or a 64bit laptop that max’s out at 8gb and has 1.8 ghz processor?

Yahoo! Answers asks us “Know your source? List it here:”

However, when they render the URLs we place in there, in HTML code, they insert … rel=”nofollow” … which, in plain English, means “the link destination may not be relevant to this page”.

So, is seems, Yahoo! are saying, “This person thinks they known their source(s), for this answer and they’ve taken the trouble to cite them, but we don’t trust them.” – Not very Web 2.0!

I’d like some way of looking at this, that’ll restore my faith in Yahoo! Answers.

Things like “Oh, it’s to prevent folk spamming search engines.” will not do. If that’s the case, Y!Answers has a critical design flaw.

If Yahoo! were to remove the “nofollow” from the top 10% “Best Answers” that’s be OK. (Forgive my ignorance if, the like of this is already done.) – Ian http://www.MySpace.com/ScrawlAudio

All right…. I’m proud to say that I’m launching a new website interface for Web 2.0, so I’m showing some of the people around me what I have started to design but….

I plan on using a projector to show people the new interface, and lots of other things to do with it. So, I was wondering, does anybody know where I can get a projector under about 100 bucks (can be from 100-120)? And can it be good? I don’t know much about resolution, but something that if you put it onto a wall it would look good. I’m starting to look at Epson and some others, but I don’t know what’s the best. Any help?
