Im wondering.. is there any software or tool (web based or otherwise) that helps and streamlines the whole technical and functional specification writing process so that we as developers/website can sit with clients, assess what they want to create/achieve and write up the spec efficiently and easily so that when its approved it can easily be passed onto the webdev people and they can create what is set out in the specification?

I’m a beginner…I have a site. I’ve already designed it with simple tools from the site I purchased it from but it looks way generic. I’ve even got some pictures up but I need help to make it look more personal and insert thumbnails and ability to click pics and enlarge them to view…etc….etc.
I own Adobe Photoshop CS2 but have no idea how to use it. I tried Adobe tutorials and can’t really get what I need. I looked on Amazon for “Web Design for Dummies” and a couple of reviews note that this is not a book for beginners/newbies, it’s for folks aspiring to be professional…etc. Can you suggest any other books/tutorials.

What web design cert. program is good for me?

Hi Everyone,

Currently, I am deciding on which web design certificate program I should take. I decided to go this route since I have a BS already and I am not interested in going back to school for another 4 years. This will all be based on cost and the timeframe. I noticed some certificate programs can last from 5 months to 1 years. Does it really matter the length of time? I just want to make sure I am getting everything that I need to get started in this field. Can you please let me know if this is a good program. Also, does it matter if this is a non-credit certificate or will that effect me later? I am listing 2 of the same programs but from 2 different institutions (community colleges). The both cost less than $1500 for all courses.

We need professional low cost alternative to Bravenet web content for our websites. Bravenet is more for kids/hobbyist then the needs of professional web designers at this time maybe in the future they will have a professional section.

We need complete design control over content including bgcolor, size etc. also looking for a low cost RSS package we can put in our website.

This site supports street children so cost is a factor less money we spend the more money goes to help the street children. but we do not need or want ad supported products.

I am working in a University in a domain environment. Right now all of the video lectures are placed on a PC having 2k3 OS. All users have to search manually for their required lectures. But I want to develop a web page by using that all users could play any of their desired lecture. guide me for any tool for that, I am also unfamiliar with programming languages.

I work with WYSIWYG web builder. What I do is I design user interfaces by that and add php codes in it to make the site as I need. I take the coding to a text editor like NotePad ++ and do further development. I’m new to web development, Someone has told me that if you create web sites using such web builders, you can not obtain w3c recommendation to your site.

I need to know is it true. should I give up WYSIWYG web development tools to become a better web developer. ???
