define graphic design? im thinkin of doing online courses?

i am looking into some online colleges and i would love to make cartoons i have the imagination and artistic ability but im really not sure how to go about it all…i was kind of thinking it was in the area of graphic design..if its not then what would it be?

    If you like drawing cartoons and have the imagination for it I would say you should look more into a degree in Animation, or maybe just a bachelor’s in fine arts with your emphasis is drawing and then maybe you could go into illustrating for books and things like that.

    I’m a graphic designer and the field of graphic design really relates closer to advertising and marketing. Graphic Design is the means for visual communication. Think brochures, layouts of booklets (annual reports), advertisements. It’s where artistic ability meets technology. People also branch over to web design from graphic design.

    The cool thing with being able to produce unique illustrations is that people may be interested in buying your work to use in layouts for publications. Not sure what are your best online choices though. Maybe someone else can answer that section of your question.

    you want illustration not graphic design, they’re really similar in that they are both about communicating a message but you say you like to draw and cartoons which sounds much more illustrative.
