Elements in Business Card Printing

There are a few elements you have to consider for business card printing. Most businessmen and business women nowadays have custom business cards, all with unique designs. However, there are a few fundamental elements that must be present in business cards that make it a business card. Remember to consider these elements when creating your own full color business cards. Just read on below for more information.

The Name
Of course, the first element is your name. Any business card design will be wildly crazy and ineffective without it. Use your full and official name in your business cards. The name should have a prominent position with regards to the overall layout. Usually, it has a big (if not the biggest) size of text compared to other details in business cards. Add any official title that you may have earned with your name as well. These titles may be “Dr.” or “Engr.” for certain professionals, but some just use the “Mr.” title sometimes.

Your position or job title
Below your name should be your specific job title or position. Typically this is displayed in a smaller font size and a different type of font or script. For people who are employed or who own a company, some templates place the company’s name under the job title as well using the same character style, of course if you are a freelancer and not affiliated to any specific firm this can be skipped.

The Company Logo
If you represent your company for business transactions you may want to display the company’s name and logo prominently in your business cards. This provides the assurance that you do indeed represent the company and its position in business transactions. Usually the company name and logo are displayed a little to the side of your name. Though the logo itself should be a figure on to its own on the business card, it shouldn’t steal the attention away from your name.

Tag lines
If you’re company has a tag line, like for example, “the best gumbo in all these here parts,” you can add this little detail in your business card. Be sure that it is somewhat truthful, even witty if you can manage it. This adds a little personality to the business card, making it more memorable.

Contact details and address
Of course, besides your name, your contact information is crucial. Include your office phone number, a mobile phone number, email address and even your home page if possible when printing business cards. Your business or home address should also be included especially if it is there where you transact most of your business.

Picture or clipart
Full color printing of business cards with your own picture added will stand out. Relating a name with a face is a good way of being remembered. This works with tradecrafts as well. Having the symbol of your trade like a wrench for example can help people remember you.

That should cover the basics of business card printing. Always try to be unique when designing business cards, but don’t sacrifice any of these basic elements when doing so. An effective business card will always have these elements.
