The problem with that is that there is way too many programs in America that teach graphic designs. Saddest part is that there ain’t as many design jobs in comparison to the design programs. Graduate students don’t only compete with the people that have degrees, but they also compete with the people who are self thought designers. There should be guidelines in this country on how many students per year can enter a design programs.

i’m in the yearbook staff and we have to do a lot of graphic design stuff and yea you do have to meet tons of deadlines!! plus you have to learn to accept criticism.

Thank you for that message about graphic design. That really sets the rules.

Who wants a graphic design job? It’s cut throat and lousy pay. If you partner up with somebody they’ll steal your clients and you come to work to an empty studio. “Here’s $5! Make me a logo!”

Oh, I’m a graphic designer degree and I’m an artist too, so the design is an art because the art is creative and inspirational!! I love this video, good job!

  17. KOWBOY1963 says:

Thanks for answering, but I should have said an illustrator who dosent use a computer, just paint ,pencil and paper. Thats why I said vector art, becuase of all of the pc graphic work thats out now. But I do no its not a program. Now that you have said it, I think its gonna become a program soon though…lol.

find out the art director of whatever newspaper you would like to work with. Send them small samples of your work, maybe postcard size at first. Call them back to. Be warned that not many newspapers hire full time artists. Most just hire freelancers for what ever job they need filled.

  19. KOWBOY1963 says:

With all the vector art out now do you think its possiblle to freelance with illustartion work now. Its been awhile for me but im putting together a portfolio of caracture drawings. Do you have any suggestions on getting into magazines or what ever, like what type of promotion i should use?
