What’s the best video game designing college to go to. I’m only 15 but I would still like to know cause I graduate at 17
DeVry is pretty good, and there are also two other universities that focus on video games, one is based in New York I think.
ITT or UAT
there both good places to go but im thinking of going to UAT just because that computer graphics and design is there main thing
There are many schools that offer “Video Game Design” but that’s really a farce, the only one I would trust would be The Art Institute as it’s at least an accredited school (very important if you want a job at a reputable company like EA or Ubisoft) which ITT dosen’t have ( ITT Tech is accredited, but not by a regional accrediting body (in some areas so be careful about which one you pick). Regional accreditation is what to look for when choosing a good distance education school because regionally accredited schools have met very high educational standards.) and DeVry is accredited but I’m not sure how good it is. It all depends on what you want to do, there is no general “position” for a video game creator.
Accreditation is important because if you decide not only for some employers, but also if you decide to transfer or go for a higher degree, and the college is not accredited, the college you are looking to transfer too or go to will not accept the degree or credits you have.
You have graphic artists, programmers, storyboard makers, sound engineers, and executives. If you watch the credits at the end of a game you can see all the people involved in the different positions.
Really, find what you want to do, or are good at. If you want to create the characters, try a 3D modeling major which involves things like wire frame movement and such. If you want to create the code, try a programming major like Software Engineering. Determine what specifically you want to do. The second major is pretty easy to find, the first not so much.
You can lookup accredation for schools here http://www.chea.org/
