Is it legal to have a 2-page magazine spread with some small Picasso paintings on my design portfolio site?

I was registered as a student last Fall and I made a 2-page spread for an imaginary art magazine featuring some small pictures of a couple well-known Picasso paintings surrounded by the body of text I wrote for the magazine spread’s article.

Is it legal to include this magazine spread I made on my portfolio site since it contains some Picasso paintings in it? I would be showing this magazine spread on my portfolio site so potential employers (graphic design firms and ad agencies) could see.

  1. Esther says:

It depends upon whether the Picasso paintings you are using are protected by copyright. We cannot tell.

  2. Everybody says:

If you wrote the article that appears in the magazine then it would be acepetable to put it in your portfolio since you are the author.
