Should I include a business card with my resume and cover letter?

I am applying for a graphic design internship position at my college. I designed a business card as I did my resume and cover letter. Question is, is it acceptable to hand in my resume with a business card attached, or would it seem out of place?

It might be unacceptable for a suit & tie type job, but for a graphic design position, it might be OK. It shows creativity and shows you can “think outside the box”. You could have a more traditional resume and on your cover letter and BC, get a little creative with the design.

Well, I’m kind of on the fence on this. On the one hand, it’s a great example of your work, and would make your resume stick out.

On the other, it might make it stick out to the point of being annoying and falling out of the pile of resumes, AND, you could always print that graphic on your resume itself.

So if I had to pick which I’d rather RECEIVE, I’d rather not see a business card stapled to the resume. But it’s not a strong preference.

Make sure your cover letter explains that the graphic is your work, though.

    Wrong category. Try “careers”.

    And, good luck.
