Hello people…so i am currently employed @ a design & marketing firm creating ads for local businesses… i was hired here while I was in school…. (so i didn’t really need an intern or portfolio in the process)…i just recently applied at a new job and they are requesting for my book or portfolio.

I don’t have any school work in my portfolio, it has been nearly 2 years since my graduation.. if I bring some of the ads i created at my current job..will those be acceptable?

Are there any masters programs for graphic design where you don’t need a portfolio to apply?

I know you do not need a portfolio for Miami Ad school. Are there any other school like it? Perhaps in the NY area, or upper eastcoast? Is there a site where I can find these school listed? I’m lost.
Let me clarify, are there any schools that help you get a portfolio together, for people who have not graduated from art schools. I am already taking continuing education classes to try and build a portfolio. Which I love, but will not help towards a degree (which my parents do not understand- taking classes but not earning a degree). I am not trying to cut corners, but asking if there are schools that help people not in the field, get into it.

Hello there .
I am a beginner web developer. And you definatly know the value of having a good portfolio for working as a
freelancer . I have already learnt many things related to HTML,CSS,JavaScript+jQuery,PHP,MySQL,SQL.
Right know I think its time for me to build a portfolio web-site. But when it comes starting to build I face basically
following two issues .

1…So my FIRST problem is related to the external look (the design) of the web-site . .
In general when people make-web sites what kind of tools they use for the design of sites ?(the starting point)
I mean do they start building the HTML+CSS code from scratch ? or they use special tools for designing the web-sites.
I have already heard about Dreamweaver that it will handle HTML and CSS for you .
But in general do professional web-designers use Dreamweaver? If not , what other kind of tools
(I mean what are the most famous tools ) do you know that professional designers use to design the interfaces
of web-sites ? (just the external look)
I really need that kind of tools since i want to build a poritfolio web-site and i think my main problem is the design of the site.
And i want to have that kind of tools in order to organize colors,texts,images,videos in the way that looks a little good .
To be honest I am not that much talanted designer so the need for that tools is really huge.

2…My SECOND problem is related to the site’s administrator panel(if I am not mistaken also called control panel)
Does adminstrator panel is somthing similar to a basic CMS(Content Managment System)? And in general does every
web-site is “obliged” to have a control panel ? Or maybe that control panels comes with the design tools? I dont know…
Please help me to understant how can i build an effective control panel . And if my following question is right …
please then answer..What are the tools that can be used for making control panel to control the structure of the web-site

How do I build a web design portfolio?

Could anyone offer me advice on how to create and build a web design portfolio to attract potential employers? For example, i am competent with the Adobe suite/HTML/E-Commerce etc-so was thinking of designing 2-3 sites with just one page showing my design skills, 2-3 more interactive websites (e.g. 3-5 pages) and an E-Commerce site. Would this be enough/the right way of going about things to get work?

I’m planning on attending a job fair at my college to look for Web design interships. I want to bring a portfolio along with my resume but I don’t want to lug my laptop around. What should I do? Should I make an online portfolio for this occassion and supply them a link or print out screen shots/pictures of the work I’ve done on quality photo paper and arrange a portfolio that way?

I am a recent college graduate with a major in internet web design. I consider myself an intermediate level developer, but I just don’t know where to start with a portfolio! Every time I apply for a job, I get kicked to the curb by more advanced people with great portfolios. And how do I get one going if I don’t have one in the first place? Suggestions?

I´d like to put up a website to showcase my portfolio in design and programming, but I would also like to use the site to sell my skills and design and host web sites for customers. Does that make me a reseller? Is host reselling the option I should look for?
I would appreciate recommendations for which provider to sign up with, I need to publish sites using anything from Drupal to flat file html.
