What is the standard percentage of comission paid to sales reps at small design firms?

I have a graphic design firm and want to hire a sales rep but only pay by comission. This sales rep will only be responsible for bringing in new clients. They can work from home and on their free time. No restrictions really and no quota. Every client they bring in, we will pay them a percentage of the cost of the project. What should the percentage be?

    Roughly 1%

    its higher… varies from 5 to 15 %

I would say, make the whole pay structure…

if your rep has to get the biz, he should get a transportation allowance…

plus the commission structure should be based on the different levels, like,

    2 % from 1 to 3 projects
    3 % from 3 to 5 projects

you can also set this on the total amount of biz he brings…
