What should a business card for an artist consist of?

I am having my first showing for my paintings at an art gallery and would like to have a business card. I’d like to have some ideas and opinions for business cards that convey creativity as well as professionalism.

Thank you.

Other than your name and contact information,
a description of the type of work you do
or if you can get a photo business card
have a sample or two on the card.
I work at a lab and we do photo cards.

    well basically ur name
means of contact (phone number, email address…
ur profession beneath ur name (like artist)

as for the theme of the card
it should reflect on the same spirit of ur painting
mayb u can take the colors of one of ur favorite paintings
or come up with a whole new color pallet
but wat i mean is that some one should instantly see
that they are both connected (the paintings and the card) to the same person

    Besides the business card
u could ve a little catalog or a pamphlet or flyer (just a double faced paper or wateva)
were u put all ur paintings(as a thumbnail) with “thesituation name” bellow it
and a bit about the situiation it which u drew it
or where the idea came from
    or explain the painting.
it should be in the same colors as the card
and ur visitors can take it on there way in or out.
    Good Luck ;)

Make sure the Logo stands out and the Telephone number. Under your name, put your title like Graphic Designer, or whatever title. That’s it. If the person is interested, he or she will call. Don’t make it too busy.

Check out this site. It will give you a fairly decent idea on how your card with look. This is a FREE website also.

    Here’s what you do:

Make a portrait of yourself (or an image in the medium you like best-though a self portrait is better as it shows style and ALSO visually identifies you)

Make a logo (this can consist of your initials, arranged so they look nice.)

On your card, put the portrait or picture on one side.

On the other side, put your logo and contact information-

    Name
    Email
    Website/online portfolio
Phone number (though if you’re handing them out to the general public you might want to skip this)

And a VERY BRIEF description of what you do. eg “Watercolor. Pastel. Oil.” “Character design” “Portraits and Illustration” etc

The LOGO makes you easier to remember. The portrait or picture shows your style and abilities, as well as allowing people to actually recognize you if they haven’t seen you and have your card. It gives galleries and prospective employers a sample of your work.

    address
    email address
    fax number
    phone number
    company name
    your name (if self employed)
    a business motto
    optional: background art.
