What to charge for an “ongoing” web design job?

An acquaintance wants to hire me for a web design job. They already have a website, but the original webmaster is no longer available. They’d like me to make some edits and then be available for occasional updates. How do I go about charging for this, since the work will be done piecemeal, as needed? Charging hourly seems silly, since any updates I make won’t likely take more than a fraction of an hour.

    Hi

Why don’t you agree a pre-sold amount of time, i.e. a day and then keep records of how that time is used up so that when you need to invoice for another day you can clearly show how the first lot of time has been used.
