What would I charge someone to train them on basic graphic design skills?

Like how to stretch words, draw circles, create simple graphics. I have a friend asking how much I would charge by the hour.

In my experience, you can’t get this to work comfortably. When I charged for private computer tutoring, almost always, if I charged a reasonable rate, even though it was lower than I charged for programming, the person was frustrated at how much two-three hours cost and was giving up after an hour and a half feeling burned out. But they still wanted me to travel to their site and back so I was setting aside an extra hour I wasn’t paid for.
I would suggest that either you offer your friend a nominal rate – say $10 or $15 an hour and see how determined they are or give it to them for free on the condition that you take a break in the middle and they take you to or order in dinner. The break in the middle will let you offer more than an hour at a session, the dinner will balance his/her desire to pay.
If you are doing graphic design, you will not be able to get what you are being paid per hour.
